Akoni - The story
Inspired by the audacity of pioneers who dared to venture into the unknown, from the ancient Icarus of Crete to the pioneering NASA astronauts, AKONI presents a collection of sunglass frames that celebrates exploration, science, technology and aviation. Each frame takes its name from celestial bodies and space programmes, embodying the fearless spirit of those who pushed the boundaries of exploration.
AKONI draws on iconic influences to create timeless silhouettes. Each season, they incorporate the latest advances in design and technology to maintain the recognition of AKONI's intelligent luxury DNA.
Akoni - Exceptional quality
AKONI's exceptional quality is the result of Japanese artisan craftsmanship. Made in Japan by master craftsmen, the frames are designed using the finest materials and ancestral techniques. Made in Japan is the ultimate guarantee of quality and attention to detail.
Akoni Acetate
Japan is the source of many key materials. Akoni's Japanese acetate (Zyl), made from renewable wood and cotton, is the finest in the world owing to its unrivalled density, durability, beauty, lustre and incredible ability to always maintain its shape and resist shrinkage. Most acetate is created during a three-month process. Akoni, committed to offering better quality and more durable frames, invests double the time. This six-month production process guarantees a far denser acetate that retains its shape even at high temperatures. This means that, even after years of use, Akoni frames will always look brand new.
Akoni Titanium
To guarantee unrivalled durability whilst maintaining lightness, Akoni insists on the exclusive use of Japanese titanium. This country pioneered the technology needed to manufacture ultra-lightweight titanium frames, and even today, the finest lightweight titanium in the world is available exclusively in Japan. Designed for a lifetime of use, Akoni titanium frames are hypoallergenic, they neither tarnish nor corrode, and in fact, they are virtually indestructible.
The innovative ceramic nose pads, lightweight and hypoallergenic, are designed to provide optimal comfort throughout the year, with a non-slip fit ensured by horizontal lines and a deep central groove.
